This is such an inspiring post. I really admire what you’re doing. I’m sure you will be rewarded for your integrity.
I am a writer, aspiring to be published, and your posts are very encouraging because you tell us not only about your successes (which are impressive in themselves!) but also how you deal with the obstacles and get over them feeling positive and determined.

Thanks Sophie, and I know that in business people will always try and get away with the lowest possible outlay, and haggling is par for the course – I guess it’s more to do with the nature of this book, and that I wrote it to try and help people. Giving it away seems a lot more in keeping with that ethos – haggling over already miniscule percentages did not…

Wow! I can really understand the great feeling of not being beholden to your publisher.

Let’s hope Dear Dylan takes off and you wil be able to “name your price” for publishers of the next book.

In reality, what anyone offers is what they think someone else will accept. It has nothing to do with anything else. One should never accept the first or second offer. This is the way life is. Dog eat dog.
